Default Took My Own Advice

About a month ago, we started jamming to Brian Auger's version of Season Of The Witch. What's cool about this version is that he transitions into Giant Steps with some tasty chord changes. Here's the tune:

I've always had a problem picking out the "transitional chords" he uses. So taking my own advice, "If you don't ask, you don't get", I decided to try and contact Brian Auger himself. Through some searching, it turns out that he has a BB.

Here's what I posted:

Hi Brian,

Been a fan for many years. I saw you perform (with Larry Coryell) a
few years ago in Oakville Ontario. Fantastic show! Your version of
Season of the Witch has always been a favorite tune of mine,
especially how you transition into Giant Steps.

I'm an non-professional jazz guitar player and jam frequently with
friends. We are now jamming to your version of "Season". I can play
Season and Giant Steps but I'm having a tough time picking out the
"transitional" chord changes you play by ear. It would be most
appreciated if you could tell me what the chord changes are.

Thanks in advance and regards,

Dear Lawrie, it's difficult to do this without manuscript, but here goes:-

Following the one bar gliss:

|Stop 2 3 4 |Am7 (solo)| D7 | Dm9 Dm11 Bm11| Bbm11 Ebm11 |

| Fm11 Fm9 Bb7| EbMaj7 Am9 D7| GMaj7 Dbm9 Gb7| to Giant

Steps ||Bmaj7 D9 Gmaj7 Bb13| Ebmaj7 Am7 D7 ||etc.

Bar 4: 2 beats on Dm9 1 each on Dm11 and Bm11

Same pattern for bars 6, 7 and 8.

Good Luck And Happy Holidays BRIAN AUGER

Pretty cool!
