I'm sure the new school will be great once everything's up there, it's just not up there yet. No need to get defensive about it, I'm just stating the facts not dissing the guy.
Good to see Bruno up and running though and I look forward to watching the site evolve! | Yeah I wasn't intending to be defensive. Sometimes the written word just comes out strange. Sorry. |

| | Glad the site is up and running again with a lot of videos. 45 is a lot (although still much lower than the old site, which is to be expected) and I'm sure there will be a lot more coming.
I'm gonna sign up again in a couple of weeks when I have a little more time. I've missed the inspiration I used to get from all those lessons. Just today it really hit home how much Jimmy's method has helped my improv when I dug out some old tracks I used to practice over. |

How does it compare to the old site now? any reviews? |

There are well over 100 video lessons on the site now plus a forum plus all the "master classes" which are student performance videos. |

I highly recommend it. one thing I would say though, is that if you decide to join, do it sooner rather than later. if you are going to join then it doesn't make sense continuing your current method for approaching jazz guitar, as Jimmy's is certainly very different (requiring quite a bit of study and practice at first) and probably better. if you decide not to do the video master classes then you can just pick and choose what you like from the site (which is a lot), but Jimmy will be very strict on using his system if you send in the video lessons.
either way, $60 for three months is a very good deal for what you get imo. |

He will write commentary and put in links for further study. He does answer with video on occasion when it obviously needs discussion.
A written response will look like this:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jimmy's Comments
Not bad, On the Em7th to E7 at the turnaround make your E7 an E7+9 with the melody note G on the top. In the beginning you play the melody and then add the chord accompaniment with an Am7th D7. This is good. But in the beginning you should put the melody on top of the chord. Most of the soloing was spot on. Try to get the E7 in your line by playing a G# and make it stick out. Next, take a look at the -9 +9 videos and add that in when your hear it. Good work Suggested Viewing Jimmy suggests Adam watch the following for the next master class assignment: (link here) Keyword (keyword is a link or links shown here)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - When he sees a common mistake being made by many people, rather than give the same answer repeatedly, he'll make a new lesson addressing the problem that many are having. It's more streamlined. He has also gone back and critiqued some of his own playing...something I can't remember seeing done by any high level teacher anywhere.
- There are scheduled live chat sessions.
- I found the site laid out much better than previously. It's easy to navigate and you can get directly to the subject matter at hand because everything is done with links and a very good search function. For instance, you can type "#9" and get over 20 references.
- The forum is still there and quite active
- A section of lead sheets is available in .pdf format, although it is in standard notation, not tab.
- All in all it's quite comprehensive.

If it sounds bad to him, who am I or anyone else to say that it doesn't sound that way to Jimmy or anyone else. We all listen with our own ears. Some people hated Metheny's "old" tone, others miss it. The point is Metheny doesn't like it. Many here go nuts about flatwound strings. Vic Juris has said he'll never use them and hates the sound. In this case JB doesn't like the tone the HE hears. False?? Nah.
No issue with me anywhere, and I don't get the idea that he's "dogging it"

| | brian, that person is actually reposting something you said earlier. I think They are a bot. I saw another bot in a few days ago that would randomly repost another user's text from the thread, but that one also inserted ad links at the end, so who knows. Maybe they meant to quote and add something but messed it up |

| | I really want to enroll to JB workshop. Does a student have to study gradually from 1 course to 4th or all materials are available from the start?
I'm not a bot

I'm not a bot | everything is right there and available straight away. however, if you do the master classes, sending in videos, you will have to follow Jimmy's lesson plan that he sets out for you, which will start from the beginning of his method and work along from there depending on how you progress.
I highly recommend it. in the past I was a little frustrated at having to relearn how to play certain things using Jimmy's method, but to be honest I'm much better for having done it. at times it seems very restrictive, i.e. you have to use a certain fingering, or not play certain notes, (or play certain ones), but all that adds up to more control over what you're playing in the long run imo. |

I mean whats the point of spamming like that?
I can sort of understand the bots that advertise in some way, but just copying fragments of a post? | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
