| | tunes to play for gf? Hey guys, so as most of you guys know, my illness has kept me from playing and teaching, however it has not stopped me from dating. I recently started spending time (I'm teaching her guitar and piano) with a dear friend of mine who I hadn't seen in five years. She found out I was ill and reached out. We've agreed to see each other in other capactities-dates and meet-ups at museums and such.
She's not really into jazz but knows some standards. She's more of a Samaba gal (she's actually Portuguese, Spanish, Filipina and Japanese, and yes, she is professional model and photog, i had to kill a few people for her attention (joke-but she is a model and photog)
I playes "Samba Pa Ti" chord-solo using what little pain-free movement i had left-she melted
ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR A SEXY, CHARMING TUNE? I know the way to her heart is not through music, but it's nice to be able to play for her. I made a video for her of All The Things You Are on my facebook video lesson section.

Are you on FB Mr. B? I have a lot of videos and the page I'd LOVE for you to critique and contribute if you have time

Only Kidding... I have sucessfully sealed the deal with serveral latin tunes. The most effective seem to be Wave and Desafinado. |

| | "Moonglow" seems to work, especially if you can perform it with the lyrics. Reference - the film "Picnic" with Kim Novak and William Holden |

| | I closed my deal with At Last but not like Etta James does it. I did it more like Chet Baker would sing it. |

| | Cool.
My wife doesn't really like jazz...I had to woo her with a stevie wonder tune.
I never thought I could pull off "signed, sealed, delivered" but love makes one do amazing things. |

| | I'm amazed by how many guys "sealed the deal" with music. I have no idea how I sealed it, but can't argue with a 43-year marriage!
A tune I recently heard that is super-romantic and lovely is " Stuck in a Dream" by John Proulx.
Here's a chart I made. Sorry, no lyrics (did you want to sing to her?). |

| | Totally off-topic, but VersatileJazzGuitarist (I'll call you Verjg ;-) what progam did you use to make that chart? Is it Sibelius?
I can never get the bars all of the same lenght and I hate that. Your bars are evenly spaced, how did you do that? |

As most of you know, I am going through the darkest period of my life, but at the same time Shiela (my lady friend) makes it so bright. She's so concerned and empathetic with world music like I am.
She does hav an affinity for pop tunes and Brazillian dance stuff. Last night we were going over "More Than Words" by whatever 80's group wrote it, and I showed her how the feel could be manipulated into a bossa, swing, raggae etc. This opened the door for so many possibilities.
She already knows I'm working on a composition (I normally only compose for students) for her, but would like to come up with some really beautiful changes that would fit something Latin (no line cliches guiys, sorry) I guess I finally know how the guitar would help me "pcik up chicks jjk)

Is it possible to work out some kind of deal (Rez Abbasi sends me his music all the time cuz I can't find it here in Vegas) where I can order the disc in cd form? |

| | Wooing a prospective with music has been a great method since some cave man banged two resonant rocks together. (That's the true origin of rock music. They carved the rocks into an arch shape). As I mentioned in another thread, when the Beatles first hit the US, unless you played the guitar, you couldn't get a date. Learning the guitar was a matter of survival. I remember this one guy I used to work with. He was skinny, goofy looking and obnoxious but he played a Gibson Trini Lopez and sang like Gary Puckett from the Union Gap. The girls flocked to this dude like flies on a dead log. |

Best with a condenser mike, at about 1-2 ft, 45°. No reverb, or distortion, please...

| Hey brother. I've been very busy with Teaching to the point of not having much time for too many other things other then trying to get practice in and working heavily on new compositions for the next album which I'm hoping to have recorded and released within the next year. Essentially I teach Monday-Thursday and try and write 4 to 6 new tunes a month through various compositional means.
That and I've been buying up a lot of Music lately, there's a lot of stuff floating around my brain.
You can buy Follow as a download off CD baby without itunes, same with digstation. If you want a physical copy of the album that might take a little bit longer since all the physical copies on CD baby are now sold out and I've been amazingly slack on sending them more copies, something I will do.
If you want leadsheets from anything on the side, just ask. |

| | How's about a simple latin samba written on guitar? The lyrics don't get any more chick friendly than - So Nice (Summer Samba).
Many renditions on youtube.
