I was 16 or 17 and decided to take some guitar lessons at a local junior college. I was fortunate to end up having an extremely gifted guitarist named Jim Wells teaching me. I had never given an ear to jazz before that first lesson. In our first lesson he taught me Bumpin On Sunset by Wes Montgomery. That pretty much did it for me.
