Basie used to try and get Freddie to sing a blues every night, sometimes to success, sometimes not. Subsequently I think Freddie has more recorded vocal features then Guitar features (not hard since he didn't solo much if ever).

I'd have to dig through some records and find the proper track/album.

I had no idea that Freddie Green was a singer. I know he didn't solo and the band made sure of that. The story I heard was that every time Freddie soloed, his classic sound dropped out of the band and they hated that. They would hide his amp and do stuff like that. One day, Freddie found the guts taken out of his amp and he said that was it. He never soloed again. The rest is history.

well I wouldn't suggest it was any sort of world shattering performances. But he could sing a blues and no doubt every man in that band could sing a blues given the social era that they worked in.

I'll look for it.

I love this version of stormy weather by George Benson. It has that same bounce and swing and energy as his playing.

Teddy Bunn sang a few songs. Larry Carlton sang on some albums but not the more jazz stuff.

Great, folks! Keep 'em coming.

Just thought of Tiny Grimes last night. Tenor guitar! Here he is with Charlie Parker.
