| | Gigged with my son! It was billed as Ronda Matson and Friends, but we've got her surrounded! It was such a gas to perform live with my son! (Note to self: remember to always wear a hat from now on when I play in public!)

| | SOOO COOL! "The family that plays together...gets more gigs," hopefully!
Your son's percussion setup is great too - expands his sounds beyond the usual drumkit, I would imagine.
Thanks for sharing. |

| | I've gigged with my drummer son since he was about 12 and playing with me in various club, wedding bands and the like.
He continued to make a very successful career in music and now I get a chance to sit in with the band he's in. Not jazz but pretty unbelievable. I'm on the far left: |

| | I caught a jazz ensemble in Chicago one night (there on business) ... Dad was the upright bassist, his son was on drums. Very capable players. Great interplay. That must be the coolest thing to have your children join you in your love of music! |

Just for fun (it sure ain't jazz...), here's a shot of myself, behind Camco drums, eldest son (Abel...) on guitar, youngest son (Tom...) on bass. Stéphane is the singer, and Vincent is out of visor.
Coolest thing? Sometimes, until we have to decide repertoire; our tastes can be generations apart!

| | That's great. Being able to pass the love of music on to our kids, and then getting to perform with them seems to be quite a blessing. |

| | It's interesting how jazz grabs at the heartstrings of so many musicians.
As noted from the previous post, my son Ed is a drummer with the Doobie Brothers...great gig, pretty secure as music goes and he supports his family with it.
But......
He's currently on tour in Europe and this showed up on his Facebook.... Ed Toth wants to retire to Paris and play in a jazz club that I also happen to own.
He also was on a show with Branford Marsalis and hung out with Branford and Jeff "Tain" Watts for several hours after which he said..Branford's intensity and dedication makes me want to can the entire rock thing and just play jazz.
All that jazz he was listening to like in this picture some years ago is paying off!! |

| | I hesitate to post this, because there's alot of rough edges, but what the heck - we're on YouTube!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C8JRm2_H_Q
Here's another one - 'People Get Ready' - it's big; you have to download it. And you need Quicktime Player (free download from Apple's Website) to play it. This is from a different camera; it's more of an audio recorder that has incidental video capability. So the video quality isn't as good (for example, I have much more hair on top than shows up in the video!), but the audio quality is much better. https://www.yousendit.com/dl?phi_act...876b96c479289a
