Default voicings

Can anyone help...playing I vi ii V i, ex. C6 - am7 - dm7 - G7, swing, Cheek to Cheek.

I can never make this chunk-chunk sound good. Always sounds like a fast Blue Moon or '50s tune.

Is it the voicings...the feel...what??

Thanks, Sailor

You're welcome. I was getting a little bored so I thought I would get a little Sibelius time in.

It's a good program but I'm not happy with the way it does tab. Plus the chord diagrams are a pain in the butt to do. The chords in their library are a litle weird. Weirder than some of the ones I know. An I know some weird chord voicings.

Since I really can't leagally post CM's maybe I can do some comp studies once in a while. I know some others have like Gerdsal and RandallJazz.

I noticed some posters from AAJ have recently joined. I'd love to see some more. A lot of those guys really know their sh## and they could be a great help to some of the beginners here.

To me, a little *free* info doesn't hurt. It helps. It helps keep this music alive. I'll bet if I had a gig and mentioned it on this site, some of the posters that live in my area might actually come and check me out. Just based on what I post.

So anybody that reads this and is a regular poster on AAJ should join in the conversartion and maybe ocasionally tell us where you're gigging.

Yeah John...I would love to see some comp studies. I really like MW's "There will never be another you", and Dirks, "Stella by starlight".

I especially like Stella, guitar trio type, small chords, nice rhythms...I never played stuff like that before and I'm really diggin' it!

How about "In a sentimental mood", or "I can't give you anything but love", "Embraceable you", "I'm in the mood for love"??

I obviously dig the old stuff!!

Thanks for the voicings and I always look forward to anything you post.

Sailor

I would love to see more of that. The stuff I've found from you around at Jazz Guitar has been great, so I'm looking forward to more comping studies from you
