is there a good resource for more on these chords, and the underlying structure behind them. i know there's a bit on doing this with diminished chords, but i've not seen anything using normal major and minors. |

| | Another way (each number refers to a chord tone 1357 etc)
1 moves to 2 you get a 9
3-4 gives you 11
5-6 gives you a 13th
Since you change rather than add notes you should start to see certain chords that will look like others such as Cma9 and Emi7, C9 and Emi7b5
It get's interesting when you take say, a C dim7 and move 3 to 4 . You get chords like B/C and Ab7#9.
Another thing to do is keep one note and move the rest of the notes up or down.
Example C B E G (8x998x) Keep the C and move the other three notes down a 1/2. You get Cmi7b5. Another 1/2 Dmi7/C
one of my favorite things to do is keep the top note and move the bottom up on triads or 4ths through the scale |

The second line sounds great when you combine a descending bass line with a constant top note:
C#min7 : x4645x
C7: x3535x
Bmin11: x2425x
E7b5 : 6x675x
AMaj7: 5x665x

| | Not sure on books that cover this specifically. Surely some exist. Why pay for it when you can work it out yourself though? Far more rewarding!
I love exploring voicing's. Probably too much because I spend more time finding nice voicing's for accompaniment than I do working on soloing.
