Sorry it took me so long, Skei but I've just found the thread. All I can say is ditto the above. I too went through the mill and came home one day after an amicable split to find she had been down with her parents and a removal van and cleaned the house out - just left with a single bed and no sheets. On the bright side, I am now very happily married to a wonderful woman with my own school (English) and living in very warm, friendly and sunny climes. They say out here that the Budha doesn't give you what you want but what you need. It may take time to find out what that is but when the penny drops it all makes sense (a bit like jazz) and you let out a bit 'Ohhhh, I see now!' You then become quite thankful - or at least I did.

good luck and as Johnny Walker said "keep on walking'

Thanks for the encouragement, and yeah, I guess all things happen for a reason, even if it's sometimes hard to see when in the middle of it. We just signed and mailed the last set of papers, so the final court papers that we are not married anymore should be here within shortly. It's starting to come to rest now, and I must say jazz saved me from doing something bad. But when looking back, it probably was best for us to split. We're still friends, and so, just can't be together as a couple anymore.
A lovely daughter is the result, and that I am grateful for.
Hope the link comes in handy, I have good use for it at least!
Peace

The court papers actually arrived when I was writing the above post, so now it's all settled. Not married anymore, and the sun is beaming like crazy right now. Might be a sign...
52nd street theme is a tough bastard, but full of lessons and mind-busters, that's for sure. So what no less.

Strange.
I just tried the link myself, as I am in no way connected to the thing, I just found the link at my fav jazz blog. It works fine for me. Click the link, wait while the doc loads in your web reader, wait, wait some more, and then voila, there you have your document, just go to 'file' or whatever it's called if you're on a pc, and select 'save file' or so, and you're done.
Should work.
Peace
Skei (the waiting for pdf's to load one)

Ouch. I went through this very thing 3 years ago, almost to the day. It is very painful and for me, it was very expensive. But, coming out the other end of it I've realized that I am a *much* happier and stronger person. Hang in there...all things will pass.

You're doing the right thing by not abandoning your daughter. I fly back east to visit my two boys once a month, and it costs me a fortune, but what price could I ever place on a relationship with my children?

Chin up, and keep playing and enjoying and loving music - it will be there for you when no person ever will be!

Hope it comes handy, and no worries, I'm getting used to be a bachelor again, it's been 5 months living separated before the final verdict. I'm a bit sad, of course, it's never nice to split up, but it seems to work ok, I'm a buddhist and an existentialist, so I think on one hand, we're doomed to misery, but have a capacity to alter things (existentialism) on the other, it's life, and life only. Don't fight your karma, be good (buddhism). Those viewpoints clash at times, but seem to work fine together, as long as it's not taken to the extremes.
Moderate buddhist existentialist. Nice label.

Peace

You simply go to Casa Valdez Studios

and there's a list further down the page of older posts.
Mr Valdez is a true jazzer, true jazzer.

Dear Skei,

I've been looking for a while for 557, 'cause I've lost my print version. So I'd like to say thank you very much.

No idea, Yehoshua, it should be available somewhere, and if under another name, yeah, difficult to find. If you have a printer, print it, but of course, the ink cartridges are almost as expensive as getting the notation. On the other hand, I know there are digital notation stands, you just load a pdf file in it, it seems very neat. When I win on the lottery I shall get me one of those things...
Peace

I've been CM solo gigging with these 557 arrangements each weekend at a local seafood house for awhile now and folks have really taken to them. I and they thank you for posting this compilation online.

Thank you Skei. This is an important resource for me. I understand your situation. In Italy we say that once you have reached the bottom, you can only bounce...
Good luck my friend.

Tyeah, that's a good one Blackrose!
Here we generally say 'life sucks and then you die'. But that's not me, I go for the bounce theory, much nicer, and I always have the les paul, whatever happens. So I'm fine. I finally realised that the only thing of any significance in this life is Jazz, so it's ok. Once you realize it.
Makes life a lot simpler too, more enjoyable.

Peace

I finally got it to work. If you are having troubles downloading, go to the first post, right click on the link, and select save link as. This should work.

Thanks for the heads up on the file!
