Default How would you finger these chords?

I'm working on this Bireli solo and he plays these 3 chords in fast succession.
My question is how would you finger the last 2 chords?

-10------ 8---------7--------------------------
--9--------8---------9-------------------------
-10------- 9---------9---------------------------
- 9--------7---------10-------------------------
----------------------9-----------------------
---------------------------------------------

Ok the first one is a simple diminished.
The second one is fingered (from the lower string) 1, 3, 2, 2 so he makes a little bar with the 2nd finger.
I can see this is the most ergonomic way to play this at speed but I find it difficult to bend the 2nd finger and get the chord clean.
Do you?

It's the 3rd chord that is a killer. Looks like an F#11b5
I've seen him use this chord a couple of times and instead of thumbing the A string he fingers it REALLY fast like this(from the lower string) 2, 4, 3, 3, 1
Now he's not making a bar with the third finger, he's got the tip between the 2 strings and getting it cleanly.
I can do this slowly but not at the speed of the track.

Is this something that you chord solo players do all the time?
I think I heard Ted Greene talking about this technique in one of his videos.

I can thumb this no problem but I think I'll work hard on getting this technique.
Am I the only one who finds this difficult?
I really can't bend my top finger joint like some players. Perhaps that's where the problem is.

Hi Philco! I can easily do the second chord clean with the little bar and wouldn't finger it any other way. As for the last chord doing anything but the thumb over thing doesn't really work for me cause the tips of my fingers are tiny and just won't cover both strings clean. I know it's a bummer and it bums me out too sometimes, but you don't have to follow these things exactly!

BTW, I thought I'd mention a freaky technique I learned from Ted Greene, very similar thing. Thought I couldn't do it at first, but I did learn it, here's an example:

||---|---|-1-|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
||---|---|---|---|---|---|-4-|---|---|---|---|
||---|---|---|-1-|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
||---|---|---|---|-2-|---|---|---|---|---|---|
||---|---|---|---|---|---|-3-|---|---|---|---|
||---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

The number is the finger you use for each note. So what you gotta do to grab that chord is bend your index finger so that the the area around the first joint (side of the finger) hits the note on the high E string

Wow, why didn't I think of that, can't finger it too fast though, hmm seems like I can do 3 4 3 3 1 too, but not too fast either

Oh my that's a fist full! But it is doable and I love the chord. Thanks for that.

That's the way forward! I didn't think of that one.
Thank you.

I finger this one as you've indicated, but I *am* making a bit of a bar with the third finger. (Just fwiw.)

I would use this for F#-7b5 (as you almost suggest) and for D7(#11)(13) and Ab7(#9)(b13)

Never tried that 2nd finger bar approach that some of you are suggesting, but I will now.

You guys who can bend that joint are lucky. Mine won't bend at all. I could never do that basic major double bar chord....you know the one with the first and third finger. Not even a chance!
But I can manage that 3rd chord using the second finger to bar.....it's covers enough distance for me to get it.
That chord could also be named a Cmaj7b5/F#

I think that chord is a G7#5...partially because that's the simplest explanation, and partly because of the context.

Notes are (low to high) F, B, Eb, G, B

I use this voicing as a G7#5 frequently, except that I don't play the B on the first string :P . That's a difficult voicing!

Also the preceding chord is probably being used as a C6, and the one before that is probably being used as a G7b9. So context wise, it would make sense if the last chord was a G7#5.

Not sure if I get you about that 3rd chord
The notes from low to high are F# C E G# B

I see what you mean about the other 2 chords though.

I found a way to get that 3rd chord quite quickly.
I lay down the 1st, 3rd and 4th fingers at once and then just "squash" the 2nd finger down.
I'll be hammering away at that chord for the next couple of weeks!
