Just wanted to pass along this new video lesson I just published on my site. It deals with using voiceleading to help you learn and incorporate cool sounding ii-V's into your playing. Jazz Guitar Chords: Voice Leading Major ii-V's | MattWarnockGuitar.com
Check it out, cheers! |

| | Using the same technique (7th moves down a scale tone) for scale chords in 4ths sequence.
CGBE-----CGAE (CMa7-FMa9)
DACF-----DABF (Dm7-G9)
EBDG-----EBCG (Em7-Am9)
FCEA-----FCDA (FMa7-Bm7b5b9) ***
GDFB-----GDEB (G7-CMa9)
AEGC-----AEFC (Am7-Dm9)
BFAD-----BFGD (Bm7b5-Em7b9) ***
*** The 2 with a b9 are not quite as obvious as the others but are still useable.
As in Matt's examples, this can be applied to different voicings and inversions as well.
Well done Matt. Welcome to the world of cinema.
It's always good to know the meaning of the notes being played are in the upcoming chord and what can be accomplished with minimal motion. |
