Check This Out! great guitar intros

I've noticed a few thread on this site about intros before, most of which had some great idea for what chords to play ect...

i'm looking to hear some masters at work, so anyone got any really great guitar intros they know of?

i'll start it off with the famous Barney Kessel intro on Julie London's version of 'Cry me a River'

Well, first I'd suggest that any Barney Kessel intro was a thing of beauty...a lot of his intros from the "Poll Winners" album are fantastic. "Mean To Me" immediately comes to mind. He lays down killer intros in the "Sarah Plus 2" album as well.

If we look behond the guitar, one of the most famous intros has got to be Charlie Parker's to "All The Things You Are". It's easily playable on guitar.

who put the reverb on the vocal at the end?

great tune though

and "mean to me" by barney, shelley, and ray, is outstanding.

it's a good one to learn to practice the ole

chord melody

technique.

the nice thing about "mean to mean" i think, is that the melody notes are pretty far apart, and it makes it easier to play the tune with chord melody technique.
