| | Here's That Rainy Day In 'The New Real Book' this tune begins with a Maj7 chord, but according to me a Minor chord sounds better. What do you think?
Here is my version (and the chords I use): Here's That Rainy Day |

| | I like both ways, really...
Paul Desmond always did it with the minor chord...funny, that song is sad in major or minor... |

| | The original chords use the major chord but various jazz versions by artists such as Joe Pass used a minor chord with the descending bass line. Over the years (and mostly due to the real book) the de facto changes have used the minor chord. |

| | Your link doesn't seem to work. I play it with a major, although the first time through I omit the third entirely. |

| | A great Stan Getz minor key version with a very young Gary Burton on vibes.
Simple but poignant.
And here's Freddie Hubbard with George Benson, major version

| | Yea... lots of fun ways to play... standard is basically just
I- to IV- to V to I ( Modal Interchange or parallel maj.)
Rel. Maj and back to deceptive original I- (Modal interchanged to maj. again). 2nd ending standard extended ending.
I've heard all versions of Min cliches etc... used
That FH version plays off the I VI II V feel, more street jazz version and of course there are lots of blue jazz version which sometimes are just played for one of the solo sections and back to min ballad with melody... great tune |

| | Major or Minor Actually, I also like both ways but usually choose the minor because I generally like the sound and feel of the minor a little better.

wiz | Yea Wiz... so do I usually, and min to maj or maj to min is always cool. Once in a while it's cool to really blues it out.... can really put big smiles on my face as well as audiences... Reg | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
