Default Help Voicing My Funny Valentine (Gm)

Hi. I am kind of a newbie to jazz, so please bear with me.

I am preparing My Funny Valentine in Gm to play with a singer and need some help voicing the first four chords (G-, G-(maj7), G-7, G-6)

What I initially thought of was:

6th 1st
G x G Bb D x
G x F# Bb D x
G x F Bb D x
G x E Bb D x

I think it works, but I would like to have the descent chromaticism on the bass, since I think it would sound better, don't you agree. Any ideas how?

I could do something like this, but it doesn't sound very good:

6th 1st
G x F Bb D x
F# x F Bb D x
F x F Bb D x
E x F Bb D x

Another question, the G-6 chord can be substituted by an E half diminished, right?

Thanks.

If you want the descending line on the bottom don't play the sixth string "G". That should do it.

Nunos, Try something like this. You will need to reharmonize the run down chords to give the E string enough room without clashing with the F note on the D string.

6th 1st
G x F Bb D x
F# x Eb A D x
F x F Bb D x or F x F Ab D x or F x Eb A D x
E x E G C E

This of course depends on the melody phrase movement. I will work for instrumental. The G minor key makes this method a little awkward. Hope this helps.
