| | I've had two friends, when asked about or shown notation, remark that it was just meaningless dots on paper to them. Neither one showed any interest in learning, either, even after I told them it was a piece they wanted to learn. I think they were hoping I would either tab it out or show them how to play it.

Yes, curious that Farlow transcripts seem quite rare, perhaps because some of his solos were so unplayable, not even he could play them! |

I don't know how common it is here---I don't get around much anymore--but I was never in doubt about what it meant. And further, someone *asking* for the dots is obviously capable of reading them (-for otherwise they'd be no use.)

| | "dots" never thought about it being hip  just a term that a lot of people i know use. anyhow, no one has anything? not too keen to transcribe it if it is available somewhere. if i do i'll pop it up here.
