Mickey Baker lesson 6

So-Can anyone give me a hand with this lesson? It's the notation I need a hand with.
I presume that notation used (The slash with a tail) are just 1/4 notes, the same as the slash bars are in previous lessons? And that when I see 2 tied notes, that's just a way of notating a 1/2 note? Or-do the slash marks with a tail mean something different than a slash mark?

The way I interpret them (and write them):

4 rhythm slashes - play rhythm, the pattern is up to the interpretation of the perfomer

slash with a stem - equals a quarter note, play that specific rhythm

two slashes with stems tied together - equals a half note, play that specific rhythm
