Interesting An adventure in strings

Over the years I have tried many different strings on my Alhambra guitar. It came with D'Addario Pro-Art'e. They were fine but I wanted a different tone, so I tried many others before settling down with La Bella 900 Golden Superior. Yesterday I opened the case to find I had a broken string. I ever change one string. I always change the set. I had 7 different brands of strings, so there was not a problem. As I looked through the strings I found one brand, Stahed in the back, that I had never tried.( Thomastik-Infeld Classical Guitar Nylon/Silverplated Chrome Steel Flat Wound Light, .027 - .045, CF128 ) It gave my guitar a totally different tone that I found much more pleasing than the La Bellas. I will play them for awhile to see if I still like them a week from now. but I think I may have to stock up on a few sets.

So I have had these strings on for almost 2 weeks. First, I play an Alhambra and the tone is rather muted and if it has the wrong strings the notes will be a little mushy. Also I have had a difficult time in the pased with the G string matching tone with the rest of the strings. These Thomas-Infield strings have wound 3rd string. This eliminated the 3rd string tone problem. The overall tone was a little brighter and each note was more defined. There was an increase in volumn and also in sustain. Overall a far better set of strings than what I have tried in the past. These are the strings I will be useing until something better comes along. For now I am satisfied.

Glad to hear they worked out. I might give them a try for my classical, although I am still trying to find the "perfect" nylon string. Right now the Thomastik KR116 are as close as I've been able to come. I prefer steel flatwound strings, but the tone of nylon and the ease of playing is compelling.
