Help chord melody

how does one pick melody note for a chords progression? Is there a formula for melody note?............chico62

I don't understand your question. Are you:

1. Playing a chord melody using a given melody.
2. Freely improvising a melody over a chord progression.
3. Improvising a counter melody under another instrument/singer that doing the melody.

Please be clearer.

Check This Out! picking a melody note

Hi Chico....

The melody note for most chord progressions is the highest note of the chord.
In order to make the progression sound palatable, you will have to invert the
notes on some chords. Try this with any tune you know well and you'll
understand me. Hope this helps.
