Help Request for Deep Purple - Peter De Rose

Does anyone have a CM for Deep Purple. I would really like one that is a bit more advanced than a basic shell. I am working on an arrangement and would like to see what others can do with it to give me ideas. Because of the octave jumps in the melody line I don't know which key to write it in. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I have decided on G maj and have found a version in an old Almeida book in the same key. Such a lovely old song. The sung versions by pop singers are just awful though. Does anyone know of which singers may have recorded it in a more jazz style?

There is an arrangement in F on this page: Fingerstyle TAB - Page 8 - Kevan Tolley

Singer-wise, there is a version by Vic Damone on the Donnie Brasco soundtrack. It might be a bit cooler than Donnie Osmond.

Ella sings a great version of the tune with only Herb Ellis backing her up on her "12 Nights In Hollywood" Box Set. She also sings it in this medley YouTube - Ella Fitzgerald Medley, though I do not know the personel.

Also, an old version w/ Artie Shaw YouTube - Artie Shaw & Helen Forrest - Deep Purple

Sweet

Thanks for the links. They are both fantastic. I really love the Ella Medley. She has a way to my heart. I love the way she sings notes that are not in the original tune but they fit perfectly. I would never think of that when I arrange these tunes. There is a lot to be learnt from listening to these masters of the genre. It is sooooooo much better than the Donna and Marie's of this world.

Glad I could help. Ella is alway superb. She has a way with words.......and notes......and everything else that is musical when she sings.

Found that clip with her and Herb Ellis on Amazon
Amazon.com: Deep Purple: Ella Fitzgerald: MP3 Downloads

Bummer it is only a clip. If you use Rhapsody or Lala I'm sure you can find the whole tune for free.
