Default Stompin at the Savoy

Hi all,

Can anyone help me out with an arrangement for this? I'm looking to get a stricter rhythm into my chord melody approach, and this tune seems to be to be a good one for that.

Duck Baker has a fine arrangement in his Fingerstyle Jazz Guitar course. Its from Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop

There are quite a few transcriptions out there, as well as sheet music. I like Duck Baker's version:
Benny Goodman Stompin At The Savoy tab
because it's optimized for fingerstyle. But it's not as accurate (to the original score) as, for example, Jim Hall's excellent version:
Guitar Instructor - Select Country
(this site requires the Sibelius Scorch plug-in).

This is a great groove, I hope one of these works for you!

I have arranged this tune and it is available in my Solo Jazz Guitar II eBook ebooks It lends itself well to chord melody. The A sections are difficult to keeping moving with a four feel, but the middle section has a moving bass part.

Default Another fine transcription

I just ran across Steve Khan's thoughtful analysis and spot-on transcription of Kenny Burrell's version. Nice!

Thanks for those links everybody, I'm going to work my way through them.

The Steve Kahn transcription is scary! That's a lot of work....

Not chord melody but a wonderful performance of this tune.

Enjoy.
