Check This Out! All The Things You Are - Chord Melody Arrangement

Hi every one,

I would like to share with you my chord melody arrangement of the tune "All the things you are".

I post 2 files. A pdf file (score and TAB), and a mp3 file.

The melody in pdf sheet is harmonised and the rythm of the melody is the same with original lead sheet.

Note, that I personalized the melody in my mp3 recording, the way I FEEL is best for me (and for my inner ear).

I hope you find my post intersting...

I'll have a look - I have not played any chord-melody arrangements before. I think this will be interesting to see how you approach it (I do not quite understand the whole thing yet).

Your chord melody is really fun to play. It's perfect for someone like me who can't arrange my own yet. Thanks for sharing!

I have just "discovered" your post and arrangement. I agree with Champy, I cant do that kind of thing either, really appreciate the effort to get it out here. Thanks, great arrangement!

Thanks, I really love it. How did you record it and with which editor did you write it?
Well-done,

Default pdf of 'All the Things You Are'

Dude,

I really love the Chord Melody you posted. I learned the basic chords of this tune years ago just for a big band arrangement but never really learned the tune properly. I've been playing your chord-melody you posted for the last hour and I think it's great.

I definately have a lot to learn!

thx.

Thanks for providing this to the community. Sounds great and is fairly basic which will help any beginners get started. Just for people to keep in mind that chord melodies are sometimes different when you have a bass player, ie higher voicings, no root, etc

Yeah, lovely tone and sense of rhythm.
Just a thought, I had always thought that the term "chord melody" described a style of playing which involved a just a solo guitar, more or less the same as "jazz fingerstyle". Any thoughts on this?

Hi, Harpwood_gr

Very nice work. Is there a chance you write also the INTRO? I have been after it for a while, cause Charlie Parker and folks used it on lots of themes...

Thanks in advance,

Joao Pedro

I think you could do it with two sharp 9 chords a half step apart (Db7#9 and C7#9). So play these single notes: A, Ab, Db, then hit the Db7#9. Does that get you started?

Yes, I'm sure it will, as soon as I get to my guitar.
I was disarmed by that chord, but weah, it sounds like a #9 chord.

Thanks a lot, Joe B!

Two arrangements of All the Things You Are by Ted Greene have just recently been posted on the TedGreene.com website.
These have been written up in notation along with Ted's original chord diagrams by one of his students.
There's a "basic version" and an "advanced version."
Check it out:
basic: TedGreene.com - Teachings
advanced: TedGreene.com - Teachings

Wow. That's great. I like how he took the time to paste the original chord grids into a notated version. Great stuff!
