| | hey, no knock on you, you didn't know.
and for all i know, the cat who runs that site may have permission to put some of that stuff up, i shouldn't speculate...
anyone who'd take it from this site would be doing it out of the interest of learning anyway. i just don't like some of the sites where people put up note for note transcriptions because i know out there somewhere, some hack is gonna pass it off as his own and not give credit where credit's due.
when i do solo gigs, i only do my own arrangements--i figure since i'm already playing somebody else's tune, playing somebody else's arrangement of it is pretty weak. that said, looking at a master's (like galbraith) arrangement and dissecting it can be very beneficial.
sorry if i came across as harsh, but as someone who's currently still writing his own method book, copyright issues are something i often think about...it's why when i post an arrangement at this site, which i don't do often, i always give credit to the writer of the tune... |

| | I am like you Mr. B, copyright infringement issues regarding "file sharing" of mp3's, copying published arrangements, and people who resell copyrighted stuff gets my goat. Particularly among musicians. It smacks of cannibalism.
I have really tried to eliminate all that sort of stuff from my house, educate my kids on it ect. Like that site advertising what appears to be a combo of the Real Book and Band In A Box. It claimed original recordings of these tunes. I can't imagine all the royalties were paid if true.
It becomes a challenge to keep the lines straight when the technology outpaces the law and issues. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
