I had a guitar teacher who thought it was great. His wife played piano (and sang) and they performed as a duo, so he had several of Frank Mantooth's books. (I think there are at least four of them.) I worked in one for a while but it was over my head. I wasn't able (-then; I think I would be now) to smoothly translate his chords into things that laid out nicely on the guitar.
The books *looked* nice, the songs were laid out well, and I liked having the lyrics there. When cash permits, I'll pick up one and work with it again. Frank knows his stuff.

You don't have to sing loudly, or even above your breath. Scatting, as this is sometimes called, directly improves your ability to play what you heard, which in turn sounds less like someone playing memorized patterns." Herb Ellis |
