Wes Montgomery Infant Eyes Chord Melody

Hey I am thinking of using the tune Infant Eyes by wayne shorter for a grad school audition. I need to have it in a chord melody. I have a pretty good chord melody but i feel like i am using a lot of the same voicings and i feel like it will only sound good if it is played over a rythm section. I was wondering if anyone has worked it out for a solo guitar arrangement? Or if anyone has any suggestions? I will keep working away at it but any suggestions would be welcomed.

Because the melody has long held notes and a lot of space, you might be well served with just the melody and a bass line moving in counterpoint, "question/answer" format. That might be just as effective HERE as big, lush chords.

Yeah, thats sort of where i am. I am kind of realizing as i go through it that that may just be the best way to go about it. I really like the chord structures in the song and would love to work this out in a solo guitar format but it may not fit well with the song.

there's really nothing wrong with that if it fits the melody; better than sounding too busy and unrelaxed.

Look at this; maybe let the bassline choose what in-between notes you use?
