Default Chord-melody on Star Eyes

Hi all !

I made a short chord-melody on Star Eyes, it is quite basic so it's just for you to listen and provide feedback if you want to.

It's here : Chord-melody Star Eyes.mp3 - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

Have a good evening (06:30 PM in France)

Guelda, great job. I like the moving bass lines and the variety of techniques used on Star Eyes. I also like your choice of chords. Keep up the good work.

Hi Black Cat, thanks for the kind words and for listening ! Playing with a pick might not be the most suitable for chord-melody, especially for the bass line, but it's not easy to change this habit
Cheers

Default Chord melody with a pick

Hi Guelda,
I would't change using a pick for your chord melody arrangements. I have been listening to good guitarists use this style since the 1960s. Look on You Tube for Vince Lewis. He has arrangements of My Romance, They Can't Take That Away From Me, and Pennies From Heaven that are very tastefully done. His style reminds me a lot of your style. He doesn't overdo it with improvised runs; he uses just the right amount to showcase he technique. I am looking forward to hearing more of your work.

Hi Black Cat,

yes I saw some of his videos some time ago. You're right his arrangements are very nice. He is using a technique with pick and fingers which I never practice but I should give a try because it sounds good !

If you would like to hear some more of my arrangements, please take a look there : Guelda op MySpace Music ? Gratis gestreamde MP3?s, foto?s en Videoclips

There are : Stella, All of Me, My Melancholy Baby, Nature Boy, In A Sentimental Mood, and a few other pieces I made.

That reminds me that I hate myspace for its ergonomics (is it the good word ?) and should take time one day to create a simple site to put songs there.

Thanks for your comments, very appreciated, and I agree : to play simple and beautiful chord-melody like Vince does is my aim ! (in the meantime it doesn't urge you to work your technique too hard, which I find cool )

peace
Guelda
