Default Visited with the hand surgeon today...

May be needing surgery for flexor tendinitis is my left hand. For those not familiar, http://www.eatonhand.com/hw/hw022.htm
Had the same thing in the right hand some years ago, and that was completely cured. We tried the first step in the process today which is a steroid shot in the sore area. Didn't work on the other hand, but the problem in the left hand is much less severe that it was in the right. Keep your fingers crossed for me, folks! No pun intended!!

Good luck. Last year I had to have surgery on my left wrist and elbow to relieve a compressed ulnar nerve. (Ring and little finger were constantly numb) Everything worked well for me (no more numbness) and I'm sure you'll get relief like you did in your right hand.

Hey good luck, I've got a bit of what Gramps had, but I'm too chicken to see the doc. Gramps, did they move the ulnar nerve out of it's usual groove? Does that leave it dangerously exposed? What would have happened without the surgery, does it get worse to the point of irreparable damage? I got it in both hands, def coming from "funny bone" area, but could also be starting from the neck, apparently.... I don't mind the numbness as much as the impediment to my playing

Thanks for all the support folks! It's much appreciated. Prince, go see the Doc. You know it's the right thing to do.

Hi Prince,

Cutnstuf is right. Go to the best Dr. you can find.

Yes, they moved the nerve around my elbow and just widened the channel at my wrist. I was concerned with the nerve being exposed too but no issues for me. The thing that made me go ahead with the operation is that the Dr. explained that the more you damage the nerve, the less likely it will be to heal completely. Don't wait until the damage is perminant. See a good specialist and good luck.

Damn, thought you'd say that. I'm glad it turned out well for you, they say these things have good success rates. Maybe I'll be brave like you guys....

Yikes. Sorry to hear, but glad they have a process to take care of it. Good luck with the procedure and recovery. Keep us posted.
