Hello, just wanted to "announce" myself..
My name is Doug...from the midwest and have been playing guitar for 25 years. Took a couple years of jazz lessons in college, but never really got any under my fingers and instead have been playing rock and country in countless bands, as a weekend warrior. A renewed interest in jazz came about after buying a vintage tubed hi-fi system, which led to lot's of LP purchases, mostly jazz. It's 2 years later now, and I'm driving my wife crazy with the paypal purchases of LP's, but I've also begun guitar lessons with a teacher who specializes in jazz. Things are starting to click, and I can actually read and play most of chords on a real book page, but I have a long way to go in modifying my pentatonic blues based rock soloing style to fit in the jazz idiom.
Anyway...I've enjoyed soaking things up here so far, and I hope I can be a contributor to this community in the future.
