Video Introducing and A documentary Film about the story of Jazz in India

Hi , I am jazzbo550 in New York, , I think this is a great site ! Dirk, your lesson section is marvellous and much appreciated

I play a Heritage 550 most of the time with a versatile custom 12 pole humbucker made by Kent Armstrong on the neck, and the stock HRW at the bridge. I also have a wonderful Sweet 16 by Heritage (again with a wonderful floater 12 pole humbucker by Kent) and a Heritage and SAE hollowbody Les Paul with humbuckers and a piezo, stereo output !. But its the 550 (which is really the Gibson Tal Farlow in design) that gets the most regular workout

I am making a documentary film about the Story of Jazz in India, and yes, it features a maverick bebop loving guitarist !

Checked the trailer. Looks cool. I love jazz with Indian influences. Guys like Fareed Haque and Rez Abassi, both of Pakistani descent, along with Sunny Jain, have really done some amazing things blending jazz with influences from all over the place, but particularly India.

I had no idea Jazz arrived that early in India. Btw, welcome to the group.

Thanks Derek,
yes Rez is a monster, and of course there are new young lions- Rudresh Manthappa, and Vijay Iyer .a whole generations of Indian- Americans..many born here..
. my film is about times past, and its a story that has not been told.. when the resources were scarce and there were no music schools for these cats in India to go to.. they learned, like the guy in the trailer says- by playing 78 rpm records over and over again !

Thanks
