Newbie! Daring to slip a single toe into the vast sea of jazz

Hello guys, I'm unsure if this is the right place to post such a question, and I'm also aware that this is a rather cliched and tiresome enquiry these days, I wondered if you could provide some great listening recommendations (let's just say an album which has never really left you since you heard it). Further to this, it would be great if you could share your reasons why jazz is such an insatiable passion in your lives? I feel personally that jazz and the playing of a guitar are two truly incredible art forms which for me can provide an inner meaning and place of sanctuary in my life. I've been playing guitar for around just over 10 years, - on and off - and I'm just starting to dip that proverbial toe into these complex, yet truly rewarding waters. It's quite overwhelming at times. Currently I'm listening to two great records: Miles Davis' Kind of Blue (Flamenco Sketches is purely aural ecstasy) and the inimitable Joe Pass: Live at Montreaux 1975. Many thanks and regards :-)
