Default Classical to Jazz

Been into classical for a long time, but learned some chord melody when I was younger. Want to add jazz style, play standards, etc. I am currently shopping for a jazz guitar and restudying chords and theory. Played Dangelico Excel and Eastman 800 and 900 series today. Loved the 900, but very expensive. Any thoughts on guitar or books ?

Welcome. As far as going to jazz from classical, there are a number of players who are doing that. Gene Bertoncini, Ken Hatfield, Jeff Linsky, and the late Charlie Byrd and Lenny Breau, though Lenny's technique came from Travis picking and Flamenco.

You might start with recordings of these guys and if you like that, they all have instructional stuff available. They all play(ed) nylon strings mostly. Good luck.

Derek, Thanks, They are all great ,each is different, yet all work with nylon strings. Very inspirational.
