Hello everyone! New member here, an older rock and roller making the transition to jazz guitar. Although I have always loved jazz all the bands I have been in have been the top 40 variety. So I chucked all the band stuff and I am working through the Berklee Guitar Method and working on some numbers from the great American songbook. Wish me luck and be patient with me when I ask the inevitable stupid question! Thanks!
hey man...welcome to this great site...lots of good stuff here..
just pick a heading and read all the previous posts...lots of questions answered there...
My students use the Berklee Method...and Mickey Baker...these are the first two..
Check out..Jazz Aids by Jamie Aebersold ..free jazz aids booklet and Bert Ligons' site at The Univ of South Carolina..a wealth of jazz technique, jazz transcriptions and theory...much information...
Thanks, Pierre! I will definately check out Aebersold and Ligon. I have also been working on the "Jazz U" program I found at Truefire. Lots of material there. Just hope I live long enough to assimulate it all!
