| | How come??? How come that most guys registering at this forum wont tell anything about themselves?
I would like to know - where do you come from, how old are you, when did you start to play guitar, what style do you play, what do you like to learn etc. - give me a description and a picture of yourself!
I don't think I have something to be afraid or worried about - how about you? See my personal profile: The Jazz Guitar Forum - View Profile: GuitaRoland

| | If you hang around on the forum for a while, people reveal things about themselves and you get to know lots of things about them without having a bunch of stuff in your bio page.
For instance, I know that Derek has an amazing resemblence to Chris Walken.
I also now know that BDLH has pirates in his ancestry. |

| | About me In reply to goofsus4,I am called Tom,49 this year, live in Manchester nw England.Started playing guitar 20 yrs ago, went to college for 12 months on a beginers course.Since then have been playing lazy blues and getting into to many bad habbits, Now I have made my mind up to be a bit more serious about my playing.Tastes in music do tend to drift around more based on what i here and if i like it.The only sure thing is I don't like modern music to loud ha ha.From a guitar point of veiw I have always liked santana, gary moore, pat metheny ,this list is pretty long so I will stop here and carry on.Don't care to much for vocals in songs more into instrumentals. Now I know that some people may not like that but I have heard too many good songs spoiled by bad vocals Ok what else can I say been married for 28 yrs and the better half is also into music and has just taken up the mandolin.Ok thats it for now this post is getting long enough and if people want to know any thing else just ask
regards Tom |

| | Haven't really put much thought into creating a profile. Of course, I'm new here and was more interested in discussing jazz guitar than mingling.
Until I get around to it, I'm Jeff, a virgo and my inseam measurement is 32. |

| | Personal profile I was thinking of the personal profile in the first place, many of you guys don't even tell us where you live? Is it too private or?

| | I'm not shy, I don't mind sharing any of that stuff.
just go to my website and read the bio there and that's just about all I have to say, even if it's not been updated in a while (the bio that is) |

| | point taken jake im 43 been playing guitar since 15 got into jazz afew years ago after playing blues and rock covers for years had to give up working 4 years ago due to a degenerative disease in my spine although this was depressing at first it has finally given me the time to take music seriosly i am now working through my music theory grades studying from home in association with the london collage of music has anyone else worked through these and what do they think i think there great and really well designed my ambition like so many others is to be able to improvise over changes as freely as we speak i find music to be so much more than a hobby its more like a battery charger that charges my life force and also a healer as when i get into the zone i forget the pain given by my health problems i would just like to say jake you seem like a decent human being always ready to help others by passing on your wisdom and knowledge of jazz peace to you all |

| | Public Profile Thanks for your respond Jake. I just want to make clear again that I didn't mean that you guys need to tell your live story. I meant more that so few of you add any information in the Public Profile.
Thanks!

| | My name is John and I'm 17.
Guitarwise I come from a Blues-Rock type of background, My biggest influence in those Genre's being Stevie Ray Vaughan and Larry Carlton. What got me headed into Jazz, was listening to Steely Dan. Those guys are awfully talented, and brought Jazz and Rock influences to they're pop. And from there, I just began to explore the world of Jazz and here I am now, nonstop listening to all sorts of Jazz from Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Charlie Parker, to Benson, Metheney, Montgomery, Davis, etc.
My family comes from the Dom. Republic but I was born and raised in New York although I am currently stationed in Florida.
I've always been huge into music, I started playing the violin at the age of 5. I didn't get into guitar into two years ago now though, And have been progressing at a steady rate ever since, and lovin' it.
Equipment wise, I'm rocking a solid state, 30 watt Fender Champ, and have two guitars on the verge of getting a third in a matter of two weeks or so. My guitars are a Jay Turser Strat knockoff model, and an Epiphone Les Paul and I'm rockin a Boss ME-50 multieffect pedal. The guitar I'm aspiring to get is an Ibanez AF105, cause it sounds oh so nice, but recommendations for the same price range (800 - 1100) are welcome! |

Steely Dan have been my favourite band since 1976 when I first heard Josie. I've seen them twice, 2000 and 2007 in Stockholm. Drew Zingg who have been in the band now and then is one of my absolute favourite guitarists. He must be one of the best "unknown" guitarists around. Me and my son visited Club Fasching in Stockholm last october for a fantastic gig with Larry Carlton Trio - Travis Carlton on bass and Gene Coye on drums!
I had a band in the 80's and 90's playing mostly Steely Dan, Al Jarreau and Doobie Brothers tunes. Now I'm into jazzy blues with a local band where my son also plays guitar and keyboard.
Play 0n!
