Default Introduction

Greetings! I am new to this forum and have been reading the threads. I believe I have found the best and most comprehensive Jazz Guitar site on the internet. I look forward to learning and, hopefully, sharing some ideas here.

I have been a guitarist and music instructor for over 40 years. I started on sax and clarinet (which I still play) and had no interest in guitar, despite living in the era of the "guitar gods" like Hendrix and Clapton etc. One night on Johnny Carson I saw the duo of Barnes and Pizzarelli and was immediately drawn to the guitar and have been hooked ever since. I couldn't believe that so much fantastic music could come out of just 2 guitars. I also play and love Classical guitar. I play both six and seven string guitars and love chord melody and walking bass.

Cant think of much more to say. I live in Tallahassee, Florida; a great place to study music but not so great to be a working musician, so I have had to keep a day gig as well. I have written articles in the past for Just Jazz Guitar.
That is all I can think of for now.

Welcome to the group. Sounds like you will have plenty to add. How is Florida this time of year?

Normally this is where I would "rub it in" to all my Northern friends. However, we are just coming out of one the longest and most severe cold snaps that
Florida has experienced in a long time. Lows in the teens and highs in the 30s (until today). I was born and raised in Pennsylvania and came to Florida at a young age to get away from this kind of weather.

Rubbing it in wouldn't work with me anyway. I am one of those odd balls who actually likes winter/cold. My idea of lousy weather is upper 90's with the humidity in the 90's, kinda like Florida in the summer.

Florida Summers are admittedly terrible. I would become a "snowbird" but I just cant bring myself to wear the Bermuda shorts and sandals with knee length black socks.
