It is always sad to read about a young musician in jazz history who was taken to early due to substance abuse, but that was a different time and from what I have experienced most of the "junk" seems to be gone now days..

I've been involved in music and music business most my life and knew or work around some of the musicians you're talking about. Their life was there music and if they can't play they rather be dead, and that is a quote. There families and friends knew this. For these people life and music were one in the same. Some did have other demons they were fighting, but that would of been the case no matter what their life's work would of been.

To me these people left a legacy of love of music that decades later is still bringing joy and love to new listeners. I say focus on their music and its sad when anyone dies young no matter what the reason.

Look, we're all gonna die. Whether it's cancer, addiction or old age, it's all the same battle. Try to give respect and count your blessings.

Default The weed thing is ready to roll

you have to admit it there is too many good things going for it.Anything that can stop nicotine is welcome in my books. Then as a medicine pain reliever. Its going to be growing behind every house in the world pretty soon, like it was hundreds of years ago in Europe.

I agree.

On a lighter note I just turned off my television and the incessant ads for pharmaceutical solutions to my mental problems and picked up my telecaster.

Mmmm.
