Default Hello all from Finland

Hi,
I am also a new member on this forum, even if I had some posts earlier, but I thought to introduce me now. Have been reading this site for a while.

I am a man born in -47 and from Finland, but I have guite little jazzexperience . Started early sexties when I build my first guitar and bought my first amp. But I was years without playing after armyservice. Then later on midseveties I started again on a lokal folkmusicgrop with my guitar and kontrabass tills our main violist movet to an other town and it ended. Then it was again a longer period without any playing to -98, when I started my to play with my collega of job at his home. Now after that I have had little experiences of playing with other musicisans, when I take my guitar to jams in some restaurants.

In autum I was asked to join a band to play guitar when they play zipsymusic. It has been quite an experience. Never tried such thing. We are a violin, guitar, harmonica and balalaicakontrabass and a femaile vocalist with two dansing ladys...We are not zipsies, but the music is from them in several languages. Hope this also continues in the future...

I have bought several jazzguitars and amps after I made my new start. Some are bought only that I was gurious to hear how they sound and differ, some are just for fun. May be sometimes I have bossibility to show some my gears to you and tell my opinions of otherīs.
Happy New Year 2010...

P.S. Sorry my bad English, but I donīt use any translators etc, only trying to remember, what I learned at school for long time ago...So I think I donīt partisipate these discussions very often, only read them, but...

Default Welcome - from a Swedish guitarist!

Welcome to The Forum!
Hi, we are about the same in age - I was born in 1947. I started playing around 1961 and had the pleasure to play in a great pop band during the sixties.

Still playing, for the time being in a jazzy blues band where also my son - born in 1976 plays guitar and keyboard. We are trying to learn a little "outside" playing so here we are hoping to find a little knowledge to be added to our musical luggage.

Hope to find this forum to be what I think it is and to pick up a little more flavour and spices to my playing. It's never too late! Happy New Year!

/Roland

I just had a birthday...I was born in 1947 also

First influences we Duane Eddy and Chet Atkins...the ventures...the shadows..

First jazz album I was introduced to was Kenny Burrell..Midnight Blue...man I was hooked...

From then it was wes...joe...howard...tal...barney...herb...charlie byrd...

You will love it here...much to be learned and all free from guitarists of experience..

Time on the instrument is the most important rung on the ladder...Pierre
