no, it doesnt matter there are pros with hands of all shapes and sizes. pat metheny, bela fleck do not have big hands compared to the others. especially when pat wraps his thumb around the neck you can see his hands arent very big. the size does somewhat determine what you can play, i have small hands, people are going to have much bigger hands than me, i cant reach some of the chords people do, but i can do some chords much higher up on the neck than they can so it doesnt matter the size, if you can play then you can play. plus you can just buy a guitar that fits your hand pretty well anyway.

Default short fingers

I have short fingers (especially my pinkie) but after spending a lot of time (6 months) with some good stretching exercises, I found I could reach most of my favorite chords.

Indeed, flexibility is a big thing. Plus proper hand positioning: the classical guitar technique with your thumb in the middle of the neck back, pointing upwards, behind your fingers, and the neck slanted upwards. I have large hands and this still helps me!

Jimmy Bruno. He is a very short guy with pretty small hands. However:

YouTube - Jimmy Bruno Plays "Joy Spring"

Keep in mind he is playing his Sadowsky Jimmy Bruno model, which has only a 14" lower bout, but looks like a 17" L-5 on him. If he can then anyone can.

Murial Anderson is also some who comes to mind. She is a very small woman, but can really get around on the fretboard. Lenny Breau was a small guy also, but had no issues getting it done.
