Default Why HALLO dere...

Hello all. Name's Chris and I've been playing guitar for about 9 years now, though I really started getting into jazz and jam music like two or three years ago.

I suppose I'll ask you fellow jazz heads a question. How do you feel about Jerry Garcia's solo style (the grateful dead)? Love it? Hate it?

Anyways, pleased to meet you all.

Welcome to the group. Garcia's playing never did anything for me, but he was very versatile. Perfect for that situation.

Hello there from Witchataw. You didn't blow your buddy down I hope.

Well I got to see Jerry around seventy times so I guess I love his playing.
Also his singing.

but gone are the days when I thought he was the best player in the world.Technically he was good but the emotion that man played with was second to none.I still miss him.

I really liked the JGB stuff as well.It was kind of funny how the GD would play huge venues then two weeks later JGB would be at a place like the warfield and it was so under the radar. Those JGB shows were some of his best shows.imho of course.

jerry's pretty much the reason i became interested in improvisation, which eventually led me to jazz (back in h.s.)

there's still some "jerry-ism's" in my playing--from little triplet pull offs to a real affitinty for a good 'ol Em7--Amajor jam.
