Guitar Hi...another new/old jazzer

Name is Joe...Hello to all, and glad to find this forum! I've been trying to play jazz since I was nine. My first (and still main) instrument is trumpet, but I have several Jazz guitars, and I fool around with them, too. I would really like to learn how to comp well on the guitar, you know, with all the right chords, and know way I'm playing a particular mode at any one time. Did my homework on the trumpet, and I do improv, but don't know way I'm doing what I'm doing, even though I've been told it sounds great. You see, trumpet players don't often get the theory they need to know those things. That's me. I'm hoping to remedy that on this website. I have, among other guitars, an Epiphone Emporer Regent in great shape, with a good setup. Also have, among others, an old Fender tube amp that makes any of my guitars sound great. I would like to be the equal to the equipment I have! ha ha.

Welcome to the group Joey. The Epi ER is a fine guitar for jazz. Is that Jeff City, MO? If so, we are neighbors.

Hi Joey, you sound a little like me, except I have only been trying to play jazz since I was 15! So a late starter compared to you... But as they say, the journey is more important than the destination (yeah right...). Welcome to the forum!

Yeah derek, Jeff City, MO. I used to work for Will West, you must know him. Send a personal email with you LL and I'll give you a ring. Good to know someone in the neighborhood!
