| | New Member Intro Hello . . . I am a new member of this forum and so I wanted to drop by and introduce myself.
I'm a retiree from the corporate wars and live here in southern California. I've been playing guitar off and on for a very long time, but only recently have I had the time and focus to actually see some pretty significant improvement in my guitar playing and song writing.
I love playing and listening to a wide variety of musical styles and genres. Some of the guitar players in my IPod Playlist today range from Jim Hall, Kenny Burrell, Barney Kessell, Grant Green and Pat Metheny to Tommy Emmanuel, Laurence Juber, Earl Klugh and Pete Huttlinger, James Taylor and so many more.
My guitars and amps are a lot better than me . . . but I am gaining on them.
I'll see you around the forum.
Best,
StevieB |

You're in the right place! I've been mainly lurking here for awhile, with a rare post. There are some great players here willing to share a wealth of knowledge with the rest of us. Lucky us!!

| | new member Hiya Steve,
I too, am a veteran of the corporate wars (engineering) in Southern California and was fortunate enough to study with many of the great guitar players from the area before retiring to Arizona. You will like it here as the talented people here are very open and generous with their knowledge of music and jazz guitar. welcome aboard!

| | I am the OP and joined the forum twelve months but have not been active as I've been working on creating and recording my own compositions which are not in the jazz vein, but are solo fingerstyle pop style arrangements and some singer-songwriter tunes.
In the last month though I have pulled out an fired up my ES175 and have been working on playing a few chord melody jazz standard arrangements "fingerstyle" which is a change for me as I used to only play them with a pick.
So my plan is to be a lot more active here on the forum as I know I can learn some things and share some info as well.
Is there a section of the forum for posting/sharing songs we gave recorded for feedback etc?
Thanks and I'll see you on the forum. |

| | hello to everybody. played rock guitar in the late 60's. wandered in the desert for 40 years and picked it back up about 5 years ago. bought a martin acoustic because i always wanted one, and started studying fingerstyle. wow! i had no idea how lazy, etc. i was. this has been the most difficult thing i ever chewed on. when it comes together though, it is very rewarding. i play at probably intermediate level at best. wish i had the time to devote like i need to. maybe when i retire i hope. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
