I just received an email from Dirk asking how I could contribute to this site and my mind began to spin and then went blank, but he mentioned joining the forum would be one way, so here I am.
I've been looking around this site, which I really like, since some time, and I've printed out some lessons hoping to actually go through them, but I never find time, I just end up playing my guitar. I still hope I'll start learning...
I'm self taught and I don't even know how to classify what I play. I'd love to learn Jazz but I'm a bum AND short on time. You can hear me at
SoundClick artist: Sergio Pines - Rock, blues, folk, jazz. You can hear me mess around a little bit with Blue In Green at
MySpace.com - Sergio Pines Martin - Wien, AT - www.myspace.com/sergiopinesmartin. I have NO idea what I'm doing when I play, and when jazz people explain things to me it kind of makes sense at the Olympus for two seconds and then it's back to the dark night of Pan playing his degenerate little pipes.
I'm fooling around with Misty now, and trying to find some comping/impro ideas - I found some comping stuff on this site, and I'm sure it will helpful.
Apart from that, since my knowledge is NULL, I programed a fun chord-and-scale look up thing using Microsoft Word (I picked up chord/scale formulas in the web and realized it's all numbers anyway), which I can use to look for possible voicings and then keep them in documents, even play them from word through midi. I got bored with it and it's not finished, but if anyone would like it, I can perhaps post it here or somewhere. (My song "Twilight Blue", on my site mentioned above, and which is as close as I've gotten to jazz, came about fooling around with this little word thingy.) That's about as much as I can contribute ...
Thanks for all the info and the fine jazzerhood here,
Sergio
