| | Decided to come out of the shadows Hey, I've been lurking here a little more then half a year and decided to start participating more actively.
Like a lot of people I am rediscovering the guitar as I enter middle age. I played in bands back in high school and college, even original stuff in the new wave/punk vein.
But back then all I really knew was a handful of barre chords, and only one position of the Am pentatonic, though I didn't know when and where to use it.
So now with the internet available I realized how much I didn't know. As I was absorbing everything I could about theory and modes, trying to figure them out, I some how linked to a recording of Joe Pass, and really liked it.
Anyway, I've really gotten in to jazz. Through a recommendation I saw on this forum, I joined the Jimmy Bruno Guitar Workshop. A really crazy coincidence is that Jimmy lives right up the street from me! Seriously! I met him at a local gig last year and talked with him a bit. What an amazing player.
I'm currently at the stage where I've learned Jimmy's 5 fingerings and am starting to practice soloing over 2-5-1s. But I'm always "looking ahead" to other concepts, which this site is a part of. |

| | It's a 1950's Kay 152-B. Great sounding/playing guitar. Solid maple back/sides and a solid spruce top. It's got a 17" lower bout, so big bass tones and a nice open acoustic sound.

| | Are posts here moderated or something. I answered Mr. Beaumonts question, but then decided to edit my post by adding a photo, and the post disappeared. |

| | I've found out rrecently there seems to be a new spam filter that deletes any posts with attachments from brand new members...I'm going to see if there's a way around it if a moderator "vets" for the new member.
Gorgeous kay. I'm a kay fan and owner as well...an early 60's "master cutaway" with a aftermarket dearmond pickup. It's an incredible guitar. Big, warm acoustic tone, and plugged into a small tube amp...well...it's "instant classic jazz tone."
I'm guessing yours sounds heavenly. |

| | My other archtop is an Artcore AF75 which I like a lot, but once I got this Kay, I was amazed how how much better it sounded. The Artcore suddenly sounded bland in comparison. |

| | Shhh! You can still get a nice old kay for the price of a new ibanez...we don't want people finding out about that! I still want a nice non cutaway blonde kay someday... | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
