| | I saw Pat Martino last night At Regatta bar in Cambridge MA.
Great concert and what a great player is Pat.Just totally inspired me.It was revelation to me how frequintly he uses chords in his solos.
I stayed all the way to the end when musicians are tearing down the stage and got a chance to talk to him.To my surprise he was sweet, sweet man and very approachable and friendly.
In short I made a connection. |

I gave him one of my artworks as a gift.
Only thing I don't like Regatta bar is its strict house "hotel" rules.Music stops at 11.30pm no matter what.
In that respect it does not have a Jazz "soul"
Club should be open to late hours.
It was a great concert anyway |

I know what you mean by closing "early" and being strict. I don't think Boston has a jazz club that books big names and stays open late like that. I've seen Pat a number of times both at RegattaBar and Scullers. For me, 11:30 was about as late as I wanted to go because I get woken up in the early morning by my toddler daughter. So my beautiful wife had to stay at home to watch her. So I can't stay out late these days, in fact I would have been better off going to the 7:30 showing in hindsight. |

| | Just finished reading his Autobiography, 'Here and Now'. Fascinating and touching story, especially his recovery from total amnesia after brain surgery.I only have one of his CD's, 'Hombre' , but plan to look into some of his other stuff over the years including the documentaries he was part of. |

| | I wish he put more into his marketing. For instance, there is a DVD of the Pat Martino Trio at an Umbria Festival. I would buy it in a heartbeat from a trusted site, but it is only available from one that is somewhere in Europe.
Pat is, for the most part, my favorite Jazz guitarist. As a matter of fact I just bought his CD, "Well be Together" (I believe that is the title), which features him playing slower songs. I saw a Youtube video on "You Don't Know What Love Is" and I had to get it.
Also, it is hard to catch one of his concerts since he does not play in my area. I hope to one day fly out to San Francisco the next time he comes to Yoshi's and maybe then catch the master in person. |

| | I don't believe it!!
I missed him! I am in the Dallas / Ft. Worth Area, around 45 minutes from Denton, Texas.
I spent a couple of years tracking his concerts and they were all overseas and on the East and West coasts.
Just add this to the list of opportunities that caught me napping. At least I have hope now that he may return.
Nevertheless, thanks for the info! |

| | Met Pat in the mid 90's at NAMM, what an awesome guy. I would love to see him live as I only have on recordings. Sad too as I was in Foxboro, MA two weeks ago.
