Default Just Getting Started

Brand new here, my first night, but confident that I've found a comfortable home. I bought a 95' Washburn J5S today with a broken tailpiece and after an exhaustive search on the web for a stock replacement I've just about given up. So I figured if anyone might have the knowledge of replacing it with an aftermarket alternative part this would be a good place to begin my search. I've been playing stringed intruments most of my life now, but the guitar just the last quarter of a century. Jazz has been a passion as far as listening but never acquired the time until my recent retirement to devote to playing it. I've lead worship in our local church for the last ten years playing my Gibson Songwriter Deluxe and it sings like a canary, but it's definately not a jazzmaster. So I decided recently to begin a search for a jazz box and found one on our Seattle CL with a broken tailpiece. On my limited income and the reduced price on this beauty I couldn't help but go for it. It's a natural beauty and will just take a bit of time to get her into shape to sing the blues once again. Just wanted to say hello to everyone here and would appreciate anyones help in finding a tailpiece fit for the job of putting the smile back into the heart of this Montgomery once again....cheers to you all from frozen Seattle!!!

Welcome to the forums!

Sorry about your broken investment. Perhaps talk to a Luthier. Have you contacted Washburn?

I have a 20 year old J6.

I just got the Washburn yesterday and pretty much everything was closed on Saturday. I'll be on the horn tomorrow trying to locate one. I'm sure someone has changed out their tailpiece and may have one laying around. I only need the upper "W" piece. The lower attached part is still good. I'm in hopes that Washburn may have them available still. Thank you for your help, Seattle area has some great Luthiers also if I need to go there...David
