Borderland Intro When I was 15 (1961) I picked up a National guitar that had been around our house for many years. Although the National is history, I have played ever since. From the beginning, Kenny Burrell and Wes Montgomery were my inspirations. But all my friends wanted to play rock and roll so we found common ground in the blues.
Currently, I work with the Hog Canyon Band in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. On the side I work with bluegrass pickers. Also 40 years of music in the Catholic church have provided a well-rounded classical experience. At home I dig through Real Books, still preparing for the day when some other jazz players show up and allow me to participate. Classical lessons, a few years ago, really helped me overcome a number of bad habits and continuous exploration of guitar lesson videos (Robben Ford, John McLaughlin, Mimi Fox, Larry Carlton, etc) provide new and refreshing insights and challenges to my fingers and mind.
Cheers to you all and keep up the good work - jeff |
