| | jazz/blues guitar ? I would go with a semi-hollow . 335 style . less prone to feed back in a loud setting with a band . |

| | Ibanez and Washburn both make reasonably priced hollow bodies. Look for used for the best deals. I have seen some nice stuff on ebay, just be careful if you buy through them. Use pay pal, check return policies if not in the condition that was stated, or it is different than the pix. You should be able to find a nice axe if you are willing to spend some coin and really look around.
Good luck. |

| | I am not a big Gretsch fan, but that's just me. I have a Washburn, it is similar to an L-5 but not as big. I love it. Of course I wish I still had my 175-D! |

| | Yeah man. Go to a music store and try one out. Guitars are always a personal thing, only you can decide in the end. |

| | the hardest thing is finding a washburn retail shop in charlotte, some stores sell their acoustics and solidbody guitars but hollowbody washburns are hard to find in charlotte |

| | I was in the Guitar Center in Matthews a couple weeks ago and they had a nice selection of Epiphone and Ibanez. I am partial to Epiphones and I think I saw a Joe Pass. I did not see any Washburns, but I am not a big Washburn fan.

| | There is a member here from Charlotte. Let me ask him what he thinks.
Ibanez and Epiphone would be fine as well. |

| | I'm in Charlotte. Go pawn shopping, check out Mullis Music in Concord and Holloway's in Monroe. There is a lot of stock in the warehouse at Holloway's, to include some archtops, you will have to ask. It has been years since I've been there. If you are looking for an archtop it can be a tough search but they are around. You might also check out Hames in Gaffney SC. If it has to work for blues and jazz the Joe Pass works. A student has a Dean Palomino 3 pickup that is cool. I've got the one pick up model. There is an Ibanez archtop with fake Bigsby at Howren Park Road that is cool, better for blues and rockabilly but will work for jazz, unless your going for the trad jazz look. Brian Stetzer could pull it off though.
Is there a chance I know you? |

As I am more partial to Epi I would also look for a Dot or a Sheraton if you are in for 335 territory;Epi are very easy to find in most store.
Personally I am not so fond of Ibanez, but they do have good value for the money like the AS 73.
It is a matter of what will speak to you when you try and compare. |
