New Member in Chattanooga, Tennessee I stumbled on this forum last week, and I'm really enjoying it. My jazz guitar history in a nutshell follows. I wore out 3 jazz guitar instructors in the mid-seventies with my impressive lack of intuition coupled with lack of industry. Now I've returned to an attempt to learn some jazz guitar 35 years later. My goal is to speak the language and communicate in a basic way, with no expectations of becoming a poet or a novelist. What has made this project possible has been the evolution of online resources, allowing me to learn in fits and starts: some time spent with JBGI, currently Andreas Oberg. Throw in more books than I could ever possibly digest and some private lessons locally. Two years into this project, there's been definite progress. I doubt my hodgepodge approach is the most efficient, but perhaps it's the best I can do with an aging brain! It keeps me off the streets. |
