Default Hello world

Hi everybody,

I started playing in 1986 (a Punk with a washburn). Everything changed when I got into blues and jazz in 1993. I had tried numerous teachers... All failed me with their fixation on scales and Metallica licks.

I eventually stopped playing in 1996 due to prolonged frustration at not being able to do what i considered playing anymore. I still loved punk but I wanted to play jazz and blues, and I lacked any knowledge of theory and had no source for structuring my study (the net wasn't much help yet).

2001, I bought an Epiphone Alleykat and a Fender Blues Junior amp.
I'll post a few questions about them later... Anyway, still not having a good teacher meant that I just had a better guitar with all the same hurdles. I became frustrated again.

Last year, I bought an Antonio Alparicio nylon string guitar and found a great teacher. Other than basic theory and some exercises, He was able to help me begin to map out some goals. I had to stop taking lessons due to time and work, but I have a much better footing for self-learning. (I actually have a plan and am finally progressing towards some very long desired goals)

I've visited this forum numerous times in the past and finally decided that it's time I joined.

I'm looking forward to taking part here.

Cheers,
Evan
