Default Hello!

Just saying hi. I was referred here by a member of my own forum who really digs the study groups...I play and teach guitar for a living but haven't played Jazz in years and I'm really looking to get back into it....

Thanks! I have a lesson site/forum like this one but not geared towards Jazz: MWGLforums.com - the lesson section is here: MWGLforums.com - Mark Wein Guitar Lessons

I teach a lot of general guitar stuff and lessons for blues and rock players but I'm working on my own Jazz playing which is why I signed up here...it's neat to see a community of folks that are working on the same stuff I'm trying to improve in my own playing. I'm hoping to make a transition to gigging a little more playing jazz than the rock cover band and blues band stuff that I make a living playing and teaching now. Not that it'll be very lucrative, but I'm wanting to play some music for myself for one.

Thanks Mark i will check out your site.I know what you mean about playing to make money versus what we really want to play.good luck with that.Maybe you could play some lady gaga jazz style, then everyone would be happy,(perhaps not, stick to jazz and stay broke),at least your artistic conscience will be clear.

hehe. I'm still just paying the bills with what pays. Gigs of any kind are scarce around here so Im happy to be playing what I am but I also trying to make some space for what I want to do, too.
