Default Desert Island Jazz

I don't know if any one has posted this idea before, but If you were washed up on a desert island and on the beach was a chest with a few records/cd's of one form of jazz only. What would it be and you are allowed just 2 LP's/CD's of one Artist performing who would it be and which Discs.

Happy and creative 2012 to you all.

I suspect that for me Kinda Blue and Ella and Louis would take a while to go stale but I could also take a lot of Joe Zawinul's My People, which is all the more special now that Joe is no longer with us.

2 albums by one artist?? hmmm

Wes "Incredible Jazz Guitar" & "Smokin' at the Half Note"

that's a much tougher question than I originally thought! I was going to say some things by Jim Hall, Miles, Bill Evans, Lester Young...too much!

Having thought of the question I keep stopping when about to chip in my 2 pence worth because some other 'must have around' album comes to mind. I have to agree that Kinda Blue has to be one of the two. During these holidays I have found myself going back to some CD's I haven't played for a while, there's so much truly great stuff, Kenny Burrell's understated playing on Jimmy Smith's 'Organ Grinder Swing album, with Grady Tate on drums, gems I had nearly forgotten about.

"The Swinging guitar of Tal Farlow" and "Chromatic Palette". If too many days go by without me listening to Tal, bad things happen. So naturally, I'd pick Tal Farlow.
