Default New & glad to find this forum

Hi I just joined today. I play drums in a CW band but I've lately thrown myself into learning guitar (again) after cutting my hand badly a few years ago.

Last time I got serious I was still in rock mode but now I seem to hate all that and am listening to a lot of swing. I downloaded a lot of Goodman smal group stuff with CC, also coming to appreciate Freddie Green and even Lucky Millender's rhythm guy.

So I've set out to learn rhythm for some old standards I'm playing with a pianist friend, like Nice Work, What a Difference a Day Made, I Let a Song Go Out etc, to back my own singing. I can play a little lead too but I think rhythm is the thing right now. Also I am taking a group class to learn to read music for guitar, plodding through Hal Leonard #1..funny how I know the notes on piano but don't seem to recognize them with a guitar.

Naturally the chords are coming a lot faster than I'm used to, and I've learned a lot in a few weeks. Just bought an Artcore AG75 and I love it..after reading this site I ordered some Thomastik flats for it & looking into Grover tuners.

Anyway, thanks for being here..

My first day, too. Welcome. I've never tried Thomastik flats, but I'm willing to give 'em a try. That's the kind of info I hope to find here - the kind that will introduce me to some new gear, items, ideas, etc.

Good luck.
Jay
